The Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Seychelles, H.E. Mr. Henry Jardine, paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Mr. Barry Faure, on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.
During their meeting, the two sides took stock of the state of bilateral relations and examined avenues to further strengthen cooperation in several mutually agreed priority areas.
Minister Faure conveyed Seychelles’ appreciation for the valuable expertise, training, and technical assistance provided by the United States, which have strengthened national capacities in combating drug trafficking, cyber and financial crimes.
Ambassador Jardine took the opportunity to express his appreciation for Seychelles’ valuable partnership in advancing maritime security efforts and reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the United States to ensuring the success of the Cutlass Express exercise scheduled for February 2026.
Minister Faure underscored the importance that Seychelles places on the Fulbright Foreign Student Programme, which provides Seychellois scholars with fully funded opportunities to pursue high-quality education in the United States.
The two diplomats also discussed new initiatives aimed to broaden US-Seychelles cooperation, particularly the U.S. Department of Defense’s State Partnership Programme between Seychelles Defence Forces and New Mexico State, as well as the smart mass satellite technology project aimed at combatting Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing.
