Minister Barry Faure addresses the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora Mr. Barry Faure participated in the European Union Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum held in Brussels on the 21st November 2025.

During the Ministerial Forum, Minister Faure commended the European Union’s leadership in fostering stability and cooperation across the Indo-Pacific. Minister Faure highlighted the region’s growing maritime security challenges and welcomed recent joint action by the EU NAVFOR Operation Atlanta, the Indian Navy and the Seychelles Coast Guard in countering illicit activities.

Reaffirming its commitment to inclusive multilateralism, Seychelles underscored the vital role of regional organisations and partnerships in upholding international law and strengthening resilience.

The deliberations of the Ministerial Forum chaired by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms. Kaja Kallas were fully aligned with the position conveyed by Minister Faure, namely that safeguarding secure sea routes and advancing sustainable development are essential priorities for collective peace, security and resilience across the Indo-Pacific.
