President Herminie Undertakes Official Visit to the Seychelles Police Headquarters

Dr. Patrick Herminie, President of the Republic of Seychelles, accompanied by Vice President Mr. Sebastien Pillay and Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs Mr. James Camille, conducted his first official visit to the Seychelles Police Headquarters on Thursday afternoon.

The delegation was warmly welcomed by Commissioner of Police Mr. Ted Barbe and senior members of the Seychelles Police Force. During the visit, President Herminie attended a comprehensive briefing chaired by Commissioner Barbe, which highlighted key areas of policing and national security.

Discussions centered on the current crime landscape, institutional challenges, and the ongoing reform agenda within the Police Force. Particular focus was placed on the review of the Force’s Strategic Plan and the Police Force Act, along with initiatives designed to enhance operational capacity and improve public service delivery.

In his address, President Herminie reaffirmed the Governments unwavering commitment to supporting the Seychelles Police Force in its mission to safeguard public safety and uphold the rule of law. He commended the professionalism, resilience, and dedication demonstrated by officers across all divisions, urging them to continue serving the nation with integrity and excellence.

As a gesture of appreciation, Commissioner Barbe presented commemorative gifts to President Herminie and Vice President Pillay on behalf of the Police Force.

The visit concluded with the official handover of 40 body cameras generously donated by the Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Petroleum Company (SEYPEC), Mrs. Sarah Romain, to the Seychelles Police Force. President Herminie and Vice President Pillay witnessed the symbolic donation, which underscores SEYPEC’s continued commitment to strengthening collaboration between the private sector and law enforcement in advancing national security.
