Editorial policy
The rules we hold ourselves to, written down so you can hold us to them too.
Seychelles Abroad is published by Salim Mathieu as a free community project. Every reference page must pass a fixed standard, a direct answer up front, key facts individually sourced, a full bibliography with archived links, and a stated review cycle, before it ships. Nothing on this site is sponsored, paid for, or written to sell anything.
Who is responsible
Seychelles Abroad is founded and published by Salim Christoph Mathieu, a Seychellois entrepreneur. He is the accountable human behind every page: salimmathieu.com. Research-heavy pages are produced by the Seychelles Abroad research desk under his editorial responsibility, with methods described on the methodology page. As the project grows we intend to add named contributors and subject reviewers, a lawyer for the legal guides, a Kreol writer for the language pages, and their names will appear on the pages they review. We will never invent an author. A byline on this site is a real person or it does not exist.
The standard every reference page must pass
Before a reference page ships, it must carry, in order: a direct answer to the page's core question in the first screen, a key-facts box in which every fact is individually sourced, a body written to be quotable in self-contained passages, a numbered bibliography with live and archived links wired to our source registry, a cite-this-page block, and a page-history line stating publication date, last review and review cycle. Pages that fail the standard do not ship. Older pages are being retrofitted to it, newest first.
Independence
This site is free. It carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no sponsored content and no funnels to any commercial venture, including any owned by its founder. Its running costs are paid personally by the founder. Nobody can buy a page, a mention, a link or a silence on Seychelles Abroad. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
The press-release mirror
Our Bulletin republishes official press releases from State House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, in full, with the source named on every article and a link to the original. These are government communications published for dissemination, and mirroring them serves the diaspora they often concern. Three standing rules: we never edit their text beyond formatting, we never present their words as ours, and if any office asks us to carry excerpts instead of full text, we will, the same week. Requests to hello@seychellesabroad.org.
What we will never publish
Fabricated data or invented "examples" presented as real. Member information, in any form, at any price. Rumour or gossip about living people. Unsourced claims about officeholders. Content we know to be someone else's without credit. Paid placements of any kind.
Language
We write in plain English, with Kreol Seselwa carried through the site as a living language, not a decoration. Kreol content beyond short established phrases is reviewed by a competent Kreol writer before it ships. Where that review has not yet happened, we hold the content back rather than guess at the mother tongue.
Complaints and takedowns
