Seychelles Abroad is a free community project. No ads, no fees, no data sold, nothing for sale. It exists so that the many thousands of our nation living overseas have a home on the internet.
Why this exists
My name is Salim Christoph Mathieu. I was born in Seychelles, and life has carried me across countries since. Along the way I kept meeting the same truth. No matter where Seychellois live, we remain connected by identity, culture and a desire to contribute back home.
Yet we had no central place. Seychellois abroad lacked somewhere to find each other, share experience, and show who we are, where we are, and what we can do for Seychelles. The world has thousands of diaspora networks. Ours stayed scattered across group chats and half-forgotten Facebook pages, underrepresented and uncounted.
I wanted to change that, so I founded Seychelles Abroad and I volunteer my time and resources to run it.

- The cultural calendar, a heartbeat in Seychelles time wherever you live
- The Kreol corner, because the language must survive the distance
- Honest guides for the practical life of a Seychellois abroad
Who counts as Seychelles Abroad
You do. Born on the islands, born abroad to Seselwa parents, married in, or simply carrying Seychelles in your heart. We use the widest door we can build. Sesel dan nou leker.
The principles
- Free forever. A community is not a customer base.
- No fabrication. Every number on this site is sourced or it is our own registry count, clearly labelled.
- Privacy first. Registry data stays on our own server and is never sold or shared. Read the privacy page.
- Two-way. We link to the official MFA diaspora registration and to community clubs everywhere. This platform amplifies, it does not compete.

How we work
This site doubles as a reference desk, and a reference is only as good as its method. Ours is public: how we source, verify and archive, the editorial policy we hold ourselves to, the public corrections log, and every source we use with archived copies. Our original work is free to reuse with credit under CC BY 4.0.
