The flag flies five oblique bands from the lower corner, the same rays this whole site is built on.
The national coat of arms places a giant Aldabra tortoise on a grassy islet, a coco de mer palm rising behind it, beneath a blue sky and above the sea, where a schooner sails. Two white sailfish support the shield, a white-tailed tropicbird, the payanke, flies above it, and below runs the Latin motto Finis Coronat Opus, the end crowns the work.
