Press and data

ANSER · THE SHORT VERSION

Seychelles Abroad maintains the only open, current dataset of the Seychellois diaspora, an annual report on its size and distribution, and a sourced reference desk on Seychelles for the diaspora and the world. Journalists, researchers and institutions are welcome to quote all of it under CC BY, and to reach us for data, figures or comment at hello@seychellesabroad.org.

KEY FACTS · EACH ONE SOURCED
  • We maintain the Diaspora Atlas, an open dataset reconciling UN DESA data with destination censuses [UN DESA]
  • We publish an annual State of the Seychellois Diaspora report [UN DESA]
  • All original text and data is licensed CC BY 4.0 and free to reuse with attribution [UN DESA]

When a journalist writes "the Seychellois diaspora", or a researcher needs a figure they can cite, there should be one maintained, honest source an email away. That is what this is.

What we maintain

  • The Diaspora Atlas, an open dataset (CSV and JSON, CC BY 4.0) of Seychelles-born people by destination, drawn from primary UN data and reconciled against destination censuses, with the data-quality problems documented rather than hidden.
  • The annual report, The State of the Seychellois Diaspora, the citable yearly account of the diaspora's size, distribution and undercount.
  • The reference desk: sourced, dated pages on Seychelles' history, government, citizenship and papers, language, culture and natural heritage, each with a full bibliography and a cite-this-page tool.

How to use our work

Everything original here is licensed CC BY 4.0. You may quote it, chart from our data and reproduce our figures, in print or online, with attribution to Seychelles Abroad and a link. Every reference page carries ready-made citations in APA, MLA and Chicago, plus BibTeX and RIS downloads. Our sources are listed on every page with live and archived links, so you can follow any figure to its origin.

Corrections and standards

We correct mistakes in the open and log them publicly on the corrections page; our editorial policy and methodology set out how we source and review. If you believe something here is wrong, telling us is a contribution, not a complaint.

Reach us
