English River

Where it is
English River is part of Greater Victoria, on Mahé. The northern edge of the capital, reaching to Île du Port and the National Assembly.
The name
The name means, in French, 'la Rivière Anglaise', the English river, named for the stream where English ships took on fresh water in the colonial period.
Its people
The last full count was the 2022 Population and Housing Census, which put the whole country at 100,447, up almost ten percent on 2010. The districts of Mahé hold about 86 percent of that total.
